Even Moss Bath Mat

My favourite crochet stitch of all time is the Even Moss stitch. It goes by many other names, but I stick with this one. Half trebles are my love already, but mix it in with a sneaky slip stitch and you get a fantastic textured item.

Chuck some cord or t-shirt yarn at that texture and you’ve got yourself a scrummy bathmat! I chuck mine in the wash regulary on a cold wash with no issues - I’ve even given them a tentative whirl in the tumble dryer with no disasters!

Even moss is a very simple stitch:

Chain an odd number of stitches to your desired width

Row 1 Half-treble into the 2nd chain from the hook, half-treble into all remaining chs

Row 2 Chain 2, skip first stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, *half-treble into next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch*, repeat across from * to *

Repeat Row 2 until you reach your desired height.

Final row Chain 2, skip first stitch, half treble into all remaining stitches.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Done!

For the mat pictured, I used a 150m of 5mm Bobbiny cord in Rainbow Dust and Coral, a 10mm hook and chained 35 for my starting chain. My finished mat measures 55x45cm
